Betty Anne (Weir) Hovet, 80, of West Fargo, ND passed away peacefully in her home on June 21, 2026. Born January 17, 1946 in Drayton, ND, she was the daughter of the late John and Isabelle Weir. She graduated from Humbolt, MN and earned her teaching degree from Mayville State in three years and began teaching in Crookston, MN in 1967. She taught for over 25 years and always stated that she couldn’t imagine doing anything else.
Betty married the love of her life, Tiny Hovet, in 1969 and together they shared 56 years of marriage. They raised three children and she spent large amounts of time with her four grandchildren after retirement.
Betty’s life was spent teaching elementary school, raising a family and caring for grandchildren. She loved to play piano, sing and read. She passed on her love of learning to her children and those she taught.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her brother David and son Bryan. She is survived by her husband Tiny (Meredith), children Jami and Shawn, four granddaughters Madeline, Isadora, Elora and Sophia and sisters Janet, Louise and Marilyn.
In keeping with her wishes, a celebration of life will be private and for immediate family only. Those wishing to honor her life can make a donation in her name to the Friedreich’s Ataxia Research Alliance.
Her name is Betty and she was the love of my life. There is no greater honor than that she was my wife.
