Audrey Brumfield

Audrey Ann Brumfield (Schmidt) died Saturday, April 25, 2026 @ Eventide in Moorhead under the care of family, staff & HIA Hospice.

Audrey was born April 24, 1939, in Enderlin, ND to Victor & Lila Schmidt. She graduated from Enderlin High School in 1957. After a whirlwind romance, she married Roger Brumfield on June 1, 1958. They lived in Virginia for one year until Roger’s discharge from the US Air Force. Audrey and Roger lived briefly back in Enderlin before moving to Minnewaukan, ND for Roger’s job with the ND Highway Patrol. Audrey worked part-time at the Minnewaukan post office during their time there.

Audrey and Roger were blessed with 4 children prior to moving to West Fargo in 1971. Timothy (1959), Todd (1962), Tamara (1963), Tracy (1965). Audrey worked part-time at C & C Market in West Fargo and taught accordion lessons before she started her career with the United States Census Bureau where she did many census interviews working from home. She would also travel to other states when opportunities would arise for a special census needing her expertise! She had a God-given gift for engaging others in conversation! Audrey also took great pride in working alongside Roger for the ND Peace Officers Association from 1990 to 2000. Together they published and distributed the ND Peace Officer’s Magazine among many other duties.

Audrey enjoyed following her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in their school and sporting activities. She loved family lake time at Lake Lizzie and, although she wouldn’t claim to be a great cook, she is famous for her homemade spaghetti sauce and soft-dumpling beef stew! Nothing better than Mom’s cooking!!

Audrey was very devoted to her Lord and church. She had a quiet, strong faith, was a great prayer warrior, attended Bible study regularly and was the most welcoming greeter at Triumph West Church. Everyone coming through the door was hugged and made to feel special and accepted, both at church and in her home.

Audrey celebrated 49 years with Roger until his passing in January 2008.

She is survived by her children, Tim (Tammy); Todd; Tami (Loren) Crist; Tracy (Amanda) plus many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Siblings: Dwight (Gwen) Schmidt, Diane Smedshammer, Sandi Burns and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Audrey was preceded in death by her husband, Roger, parents, Vic and Lyla, and mother and father-in-law, Gene and Viola Brumfield.
