Arlen Marcks

Arlen Marcks, age 54, of Fargo, ND, died Thursday, November 25, 2021, at his home following a brief illness.

Arlen Rodney Marcks was born on October 31, 1967, at Fargo, ND, the son of Rodney Arlen and Marlene (Anderson) Marcks.   He grew up in Fargo and graduated from Fargo North High School in 1986.   Arlen then attended NDSCS at Wahpeton and graduated in 1988 with a degree in Auto Mechanics.

Arlen worked as an automotive technician at several business in the Fargo area, including  Lunde’s, Schumacher Goodyear, Wallworks/Luther, and at the 12th Avenue Garage.  He then became a self-employed mechanic.   Soon he became known as the neighborhood mechanic, the guy you could call that would always be available to help you in your time of mechanical need.  

Arlen loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, he attended many car shows, and mostly enjoyed collecting Mopar cars.  His prize car was a ’69 Charger – which is still waiting to be restored.   (He was always repairing other people’s vehicles rather than working on his own, plus he had a tendency to procrastinate!)

He is survived by his father, Rodney (companion Dianne), Fargo; brother Jason (Elizabeth), Fargo; 2 nieces & 2 nephews:  Megan Marcks, Jayce Marcks, Nolan Maas, and Ameila Maas; a special friend Wendy Howes; aunts Edie (Donald) Wilson, Zanesville, Ohio, Cathy (Dean) Ernie, Colorado Springs, Colorado, uncle Casey (Carol) Marcks, Buffalo, ND; several cousins; and family on his mother Marlene Marcks Hermanson’s side.

Arlen was preceded in death by his sister Michelle, his paternal grandparents, Harry and Marie Marcks, and special friend Stephanie Hendrickson.

Funeral Service:    10:30 Tuesday, December 7, 2021, in West Funeral Home Chapel, West Fargo, with Visitation held one hour prior to his service.

Interment:  Buffalo Cemetery, Buffalo, ND at a later date.
