Anita Helen Christianson, died peacefully on Friday, November 26, 2021, with her family by her side. Anita led a Christ-centered life. Her relationship with Jesus was her guiding light. She was looking forward to her eternal home in heaven.
Anita, the youngest of three children was born on February 16, 1933, in Fargo, ND to Ralph and Helen Ritteman. Anita met the love of her life Eldon Christianson at Hawley High School in Hawley, MN. After Anita graduated from Concordia College with a bachelor’s degree in Education they were married on June 18, 1955. Anita taught home economics in Kennedy, MN for one year before they settled in the Fargo-Moorhead area. Anita was very supportive when Eldon started his own business and volunteered to do the bookkeeping. She had her own unique methods, but the books always balanced.
Anita was a fabulous homemaker and exceptional cook. She was a wonderful hostess and opened her home to extended family by hosting birthday parties, Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners for many years. She was actively involved in her children’s activities. She made sure our home was a welcoming place for her daughter’s friends, everyone was welcome and there were always treats and snacks available. Anita was active in church, and she lived out her faith by hosting good new clubs, and backyard bible clubs when her girls were young. In her retirement years she volunteered with Mothers of Preschoolers at her church. She loved taking care of the children and there was usually a line to get to sit in her lap for a cuddle.
Anita loved camping and traveling with her family. Many great memories were made traveling around the country in the motorhome, she was always up for an adventure. She also enjoyed spending time at the family cabin on Pelican Lake where she loved to go out on the boat for a relaxing ride or fishing.
Anita is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Ralph Ritteman and sister Marian Kunke.
She is survived by her husband, Eldon Christianson, children Julie (Rick) Peterson and Vicki Christianson, along with her grandchildren Daniel Peterson and Rebecca (Connor) Doppler. Anita also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
A private family service will be held at a future date.
