Alvin J. Orth, 98, of West Fargo passed away Sunday, January 26, 2020, at Sheyenne Crossings in West Fargo.
Alvin John Orth was born October 15, 1921 in Cogswell ND to Alvin and Mary (Kapaun) Orth.
Alvin worked on the family farm until entering the US Army in 1942. He was trained as a communications specialist in Drewfield Fl. Alvin was sent to England and Normandy Beach, where he served in the Signal Corps under General Patton until being discharged in 1945.
Alvin married Mable Westra on July 13, 1946. They lived and farmed near Forman, ND where they raised their four children. In 1965 the family moved to Casselton, ND. where Alvin managed the Farmers Union Oil Company until 1977. He then worked for the Cenex corporate office as an account rep for the state of North Dakota until retiring in 1983.

Alvin was preceded in death by his siblings: Walter (Myrtle) Orth, Francis (Shirley) Orth, Leo (Evelyn) Orth, Eve (John) Casto, Alice (Hank) Johnson, Adeoline (Nick) Schreiber and Louise (Jim) Park.
Memorials are preferred to Ethos Hospice
Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 31st, 2020, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in West Fargo.
Visitation: 5 to 6 p.m. with a 6 p.m. Prayer Service Thursday in the church.
Burial: St. Leo’s Catholic Cemetery, Casselton, ND.
