Allen Stavedahl

Allen Stavedahl, 76, of West Fargo, passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo surrounded by family.

Allen A. Stavedahl was born on January 12, 1948, in Mayville, ND, to Arthur and Inez (Knudson) Stavedahl. Growing up on the family farm in rural Portland, he was baptized and confirmed in the nearby Perry Lutheran Church. He attended rural grade school and Portland High School.

After moving to Fargo, he met Shirley Sellner and they married on May 15,1987 at Holy Cross Catholic Church.  Shirley and Al spent their entire married life in the same house in West Fargo.  For over 40 years, he was employed by Northern Improvement as a service truck driver.  He was a proud member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 49.

Allen loved spending time with his wife, kids, grandkids, and friends.  His hobbies included fishing, collecting toy tractors and construction equipment, and watching old movies and tv shows. He enjoyed deer hunting and going for a drive up north to visit friends, family, and the farm.

Allen is survived by his wife, Shirley; son, Scott (Tricia) Stavedahl; daughter, Stacy (Kevin Strate) Stavedahl; grandchildren Kyra Strate and Kaleah Strate; siblings, Ruth Huus, John Stavedahl, and Deb (Bob) Meuwissen; a sister-in-law, Lynne Stavedahl; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Gunder Stavedahl and Ole Stavedahl; and a brother-in-law, Sam Huus.

Visitation: Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2024 from 5 to 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM at West Funeral Home, West Fargo.

Funeral: Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2024 at 10 AM at Holy Cross Catholic Church, West Fargo with visitation one hour prior at the church.

Burial: Wednesday at 2 PM at Perry Lutheran Cemetery, rural Portland, ND with coffee social to follow.
