Alan Rode, 70, of Casselton, died Thursday, October 15, 2020, at Sanford Health in Fargo.
Alan Edward Rode was born October 15, 1950, in Fargo, son of Felix and Edna Mae Johnson. He was raised in Amenia, ND, attended school there and graduated in 1969 from Central Cass High School in Casselton. Alan worked at the Texaco Station in Casselton until entering the U.S. Army on September 4, 1970. Following discharge with the rank of Specialist Fourth Class, on March 31, 1971, Alan returned to Casselton and was employed for many years at Casselton Cenex and Gordy’s. Alan was married to Joanne Buchholz in 1979, at St. Leo’s Catholic in Casselton. The couple later divorced.
Alan enjoyed fishing, hunting, wrestling, baseball and riding his motorcycle.
Alan is survived by his children: Adam Rode of Bertrum, MN, Shawn (Jennifer) Rode of Moorhead, Tami Howard of Bismarck, Derek Rode of Fargo and step-daughter: Dani (Kent) Bratholt of Newnan, GA; grandchildren: Payton, Gabe, Kyle, Xander, Jamik, Kara, Easton, Gideon and Tyson; great-granddaughter: Eleanora; siblings: Cathy Rode of Moorhead, Frances (Norman) Jones of Moorhead, Marge Rode of Watertown, SD, Mary Rose (Dale) Colville of Granger, IN, Virginia Vincent of Valley City, ND, and Sheila (Dave) Burman of El Cajon, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; a brother: Fred Rode; infant brother: Gerrard; brothers-in-law: Jim Vincent and Alan Gehrke.
Due to Covid-19, masks are required in the church.
In lieu of floral arrangements, memorials are preferred to St. Leo’s Catholic Cemetery in Casselton.
Memorial Service 10 a.m. Thursday, October 22, 2020, at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Casselton, ND.
Visitation: an hour prior.
Burial: St. Leo’s Catholic Cemetery in Casselton.
