Vickie (Horn) Grossnickle

Vickie Grossnickle, 62, Durbin, ND passed away on Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017 at Sanford Health Palliative Care, Fargo, ND.

Vickie Lynn Horn was born Oct. 2, 1954 to LeRoy and Delores Horn in Fargo, ND. She lived in West Fargo growing up and graduated from West Fargo High School. She attended NDSU and worked there for 25 years, retiring in 2008, working in various departments including food and nutrition. Vickie married Lyle Grossnickle on May 19, 1973. They made their home in Horseshoe Bend, ND for a few years and then moved near Casselton, ND where they resided most of their married life. Lyle passed away in 2008.

Vicki loved animals, especially horses and cats. She was a typical farm girl who loved the outdoors. She loved to fish and would often sneak away to Brewer Lake for a few hours in the past few years.

Vickie was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle; father, LeRoy Horn; brother-in-law, James Grossnickle; Lyle’s parents, Jack and Alma; and nephew, Andrew Grossnickle.

She is survived by her mother, Delores Lambert Horn of West Fargo; a sister, Kristi (Damien) Dixon, and their children, Grant, Evan and Elizabeth of Weatherby Lake, MO; brother-in-law, Charles Grossnickle; sisters-in-law, Janice Grossnickle and Debra Grossnickle; several nieces and nephews and their children on the Grossnickle side of the family; uncle, Richard Horn of New England, ND and aunt, Lucille Lambert of Staples, MN; along with many cousins and their families.

Visitation: Wednesday, August 9, 2017 from 5 to 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM at West Funeral Home, West Fargo.

Funeral: Thursday at 2 PM at Community Presbyterian Church, West Fargo with visitation one hour prior.

Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.
