Traude Fietzek

Traude Fietzek, 76, of Galesburg, ND, formerly Sibley, ND, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2018, at home with her family at her side.

Traude was born October 29, 1941, in Heilbron, Germany to Franz and Elise Schmitt. It was there she grew up and later met the love her life Robert Fietzek.  They married June 12, 1958 at Heilbron. On March 25th, 1959 they gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, Susan Mary, in Baumholder, Germany. Not long after they moved to Riley, Kansas, where on April 14, 1960, they gave birth to a son Timmy Harald.   Because of Robert’s service (in the US Army), it gave them the opportunity to live in different places. One of her favorites was Anchorage, Alaska where they lived from 1961- 1963. In 1963, they moved to Moss Landing, CA, where they bought a home and lived for 14 yrs. During that time in 1966, Traude received her US Citizenship. In 1977, they made the decision to move to Hunter, ND. On July 17, 1979, they gave birth to a son Thomas Robert.

Traude worked in housekeeping at The Good Samaritan in Arthur for 14 yrs. In 2006, Traude and Robert retired and moved to Sibley, ND, where they lived there for 10 years. In 2016, they moved to Galesburg.

Traude’s favorite pastime was camping and fishing. She loved her trips to Medora in the convertible and her train trips to California and Texas. Traude also loved her animals. Her main love was her family. There was nothing Traude would not do for her family.

She is survived by her husband Robert Fietzek; her son Tom (Connie) Fietzek, Galesburg; her step-grandchildren Jade Bring, Austin Bring, and Hunter Bring, all of Fargo; and last but not least, her favorite, her great granddaughter Nikita Western.

Traude is preceded in death by her daughter Susie who passed July 6, 1973 and her son Timmy who passed February 15, 2008.

Funeral Service: Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 11AM in Elm River Lutheran Church, Galesburg with visitation from 9 to 11.

Burial:  Hunter (ND) Cemetery.
