Thomas F. Sparks, Sr., 84 years, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2019 at his residence at Bethany Homes in Fargo, ND. No longer suffering from Parkinson's disease and reunited with his sweet Betty dear and home with The Lord.
Tom was born on January 30, 1935 to Jack and Grace (Barsell) Sparks in Omaha, NE. He was raised in Omaha, Chicago, and Kansas City. He graduated from Southeast High School in Kansas City, MO.
In 1953, Tom was united in marriage to Betty (West) in Blackwell, OK. They lived in South Chicago, Omaha, Missouri, and North Dakota. He worked at Armour & Co, Jones Beef, IBP, and American Beef. In 1987, Tom was the founder of Burger Time in Fargo, ND which was the home of the 'Bigger Burger.' He retired in 2002 in Fargo, ND. He enjoyed drag racing and belonged to the NHRA and the Midwest Wild Bunch.
He is survived by his children Gary Rustin and Thomas Sparks, Jr. His grandchildren Kailee (Sparks) Blessum, Brady Sparks, Jacob Sparks, Kaitlin Sparks, Allison Sparks, Matthew Rustin and Sara Watts. His great grandchildren Ayden Blessum, Marlee Blessum, Cody Sparks, Orianna Watts, Brayden Watts, Ervin Watts, Lilith Rustin, and Deacon Rustin. He is survived by his siblings Bill Sparks, Mary Ann Cox, and Lynn Shaw. Also survived by his sister-in-laws Dorothy Sparks and Edna Tanton.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jack Sparks, son Timothy Sparks, and wife Betty (West) Sparks.
Tom touched so many lives and sang his praise for Jesus everywhere he went. He loved his Betty dear, his family, and his friends dearly. His favorite sayings were "Happy Day" and "Jesus Loves You." He was such a blessing and a mentor to many people. He wants us all to celebrate his life.
The Funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on March 23rd at Cornerstone Baptist Church at 1130 11th Street South in Fargo, ND 58103.
