Theodora "Dora" (Hasenwinkel) Degenstein

Dora Degenstein, 79, Fargo, ND died on Monday, Dec. 30, 2019 at Essentia Health in Fargo.

Theodora “Dora” Marie Hasenwinkel was born in Bottineau, ND on March 18, 1940 to Ewaldt and Caroline (Goodman) Hasenwinkel. She was raised and attended school in Minot, ND. After graduation from high school, she attended New York Hairdressing Academy graduating in 1959. Dora later attended Moorhead Tech graduating in 1984.

On April 23, 1960, Dora was united in marriage to Clem Degenstein in Harvey, ND.  Dora lived in Minot, Velva and Casselton and has resided in Fargo the last many years. While in Velva, she operated her own hairdressing salon and in Fargo, she worked several years at Pioneer Mutual Insurance.

In 2001, Dora fulfilled her dream and traveled to Italy and visited the grave of her father, Ewaldt who died in WWII. She traveled with her daughter Marcia to Rome and to the cemetery in Nettuno, Italy.

Dora enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cake decorating and reading along with helping Senior Citizens with their taxes through the AARP services. She was active in “Women of Today” organization for many years.

Dora is survived by four children, Kim Knutson of Mitchell, SD, Lenny (Danielle) Degenstein of Pierre, SD, Marcia Degenstein of Fargo, Carey Degenstein of Mitchell, SD;  grandchildren, LeAnn (Brian) Kerin, Mallory (Brent) Imhoff, Steven (Tiffany) Degenstein and Theresa (James) Voight; great grandchildren, Hanna and Walker Voigt, James and Pepper Kerin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Lawrence Moldenhauer; husband; and son-in-law, Dean Knutson.

Funeral: Friday, Jan. 10, 2020 at 2 PM at the West Funeral Home Chapel, West Fargo, ND with visitation one hour prior and reception to follow.

Burial: Rosehill Cemetery, Minot, ND.
