Shirley Ann Grabanski (Hanson) passed away on February 10th, 2019 surrounded by her family and the caring and loving community of Villa Maria. Shirley’s long journey with Alzheimer’s has now ended and all her thoughts and memories are with her.
Shirley was born on September 8, 1935 in Alvarado MN to Ralph and Clara (Larson) Hanson. She was married to Dan Grabanski on October 16, 1956. They had six children, Vickie Grabanski (Jeff Clemenson) Scott Grabanski, Renae Robillard (Jerry Schendel) Michelle Violet (Billie), Nancy Grabanski (Alex Bishop) and Rachel Heyerman (Wyatt). Shirley attended beauty school in 1970 and after graduating she join in business with Dan creating the City Barber and Beauty Shop in Casselton ND where they made their home for 50 years. Family and friends will remember Shirley as fun loving with a laugh that was recognized by all who knew her.
Shirley was preceded in death by her great granddaughter Aubrey Robillard, her parents, Ralph and Clara Hanson, her mother and father in law, John and Dora Grabanski, her sisters, Connie Farder (Gerald) Norma Nichols (Roland) Ardy Ferencik (Andy) and Dorothy Olson (Dick), her brothers, Ralph Hanson (Vivian) and Duane Hanson. Her sister in law, Irene (Ernest) Kulas.
She is survived by her husband Dan, all her children, her grandchildren, Michael (Nichole) Grabanski, Jeff Robillard (Samatha), Kristen (Dustin) Abraham, Chad Violet (Katie), Colt Violet (Mary), Cassidy Violet, Hunter Schow (Kain), Hallen Heyerman, Hayden Heyerman, Cole Bishop, Danielle Bishop and Jake Bishop, six great grandchildren and her sister in law Evelyn (Hanson) Kosteryzewski.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations to be made to St. Leo’s Catholic Cemetery, Casselton.
Visitation: Friday, February 15, 2019 from 5 until 7 PM with a vigil service at 7 PM at St. Leo’s Catholic Church, Casselton.
Funeral Mass: Saturday, February 16 at 10:30 AM with visitation one hour prior to the service St. Leo’s Catholic Church, Casselton.
Burial: St. Leo’s Cemetery following the service.
