Sheila (Anderson) Rector

Sheila R. Rector, 68, West Fargo, ND died on Sunday, July 14, 2019 in her home with family by her side and under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Sheila Rae Anderson was born June 20, 1951 in Fargo, ND the daughter of Allen and Florence (Broberg) Anderson.  Her early years were spent living in the Lisbon, ND area before moving to Moorhead, MN at the age of three.

Sheila graduated from Moorhead High School in 1969.  She attended Moorhead State University, receiving her education in Microbiology before continuing on to St. Lukes School  of Nursing to become an Registered Nurse.  Sheila worked as a nurse at St. Lukes Hospital and Elim Nursing Home.  Sheila married Bill Rector August 5, 1977.  Together they made their home in West Fargo, ND.  Sheila and Bill had four children.  Sheila retired from nursing to pursue a challenging career as a fulltime mother in 1990.  She was involved in her children’s church activities at Faith Journey Lutheran Church as a Sunday school and vacation Bible school teacher and assisted in Confirmation over the years for all four children.  She was a volunteer leader for her daughters Camp Fire USA Clubs. 

Sheila remained as active as she was able in her Church Faith Journey Lutheran church and helping where needed.  She remained a part of Camp Fire USA on the Board even after all three of her daughters graduated.  She enjoyed genealogy, spending time researching all branches of her family tree, attending conferences and searching historical records.  Sheila was a talented seamstress and enjoyed sewing.  Her green thumb was evident in the gardens of the Rector yard.  She spent considerable time refinishing wood work and furniture as well as doing many other crafts and arts.  Sheila was always willing to help others and did so with a smile.  Her biggest contribution in life was the love she gave, especially as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.  She will be remembered as always and forever.   

Sheila will be greatly missed by her husband Bill, their four children: Christine (Tony) Schultz, of West Fargo, ND, Mason (Sara) Rector, of West Fargo, ND, Katelyn Miller, of Everson, WA, and Alisa Rector, of West Fargo, ND; her granddaughter Harper Rector, sisters: Nancy Anderson, Sharon (Craig) Fawley, and Patty (Fran) Roller, sisters-in-law: Annette (Fred) Bates, Fern Rector, Marion (Duane) Pagnac, Sheri (Rodney) Hartjen, Beth Feild as well as several nieces and nephews.

Sheila was preceded in death by her parents Allen and Florence Anderson and in-laws Jennings and Evelyn Rector and grandparents.

Visitation: Friday, July 19, 2019 from 5 until 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM all at West Funeral Home, West Fargo.

Funeral Service: Saturday, July 20, 2019 at 10:30 AM at Faith Journey Lutheran Church, West Fargo with visitation one hour prior to the service. 

Burial: Oakwood Cemetery, Lisbon, ND following the service on Saturday.
