Selma Bartholomay, Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, 89, of Fargo, North Dakota passed away on May 28, 2019 at Villa Maria.
Selma was born April 25, 1930, to Willie and Selma (Groth) Thompson and was raised in a loving household on the family farm near Hatton ND. Selma was baptized and confirmed at Goose River Lutheran Church in rural Hatton and was very proud of her family's roots in the Hatton area since the 1870's. She attended school in Hatton, graduating in 1947, and then attended Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, graduating in 1951. On June 19, 1954, Selma was united in marriage to Gale Bartholomay at Goose River Lutheran Church. She worked at NDSU immediately after graduation and Crawford and Company for many years. Selma and Gale raised their children on the north side of Fargo and was active in her community, volunteering for many organizations. They were members of Peace Lutheran Church for over 60 years, and enjoyed traveling south to Texas for many winters after Gale's retirement. Gale passed away on May 8, 2018.
Selma will be dearly missed by her children Dave (Janis Taramelli) of Circle Pines, MN; Lisa Ebbenga (Bryan) of Kasota, MN; Mark (Tanis) of Minnetonka, MN; and Gregg of St. Peter, MN; five grandchildren; Kyle Bartholomay, Ashley and Garret Ebbenga, Alaina (David) Eckwright and Tricia Bartholomay; and one great grandchild Hailey Eckwright. She is also survived by her two sisters-in-law Jean Sweeney of Fargo, Alice Bartholomay of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and many wonderful and caring nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Gale; brothers Walter, Lewis and Willie, Jr.; and sisters Thelma Pladson and Gladsey Boe.
Selma’s family would like to thank the staff of Villa Maria for the care they gave her, and Hospice of the Red River Valley for the comfort they provided.
