Sandra Zimmerman

    Sandra Corinne Zimmerman died peacefully September 30 in her home surrounded by her family.  She fought a courageous battle with cancer and is now pain free in the loving arms of her Lord.

   Sandy was born to Gerald and Gloriann Larson in Duluth, MN on March 9, 1960 where she lived until relocating to Bruce Crossing, MI before the start of fourth grade. She graduated from Ewen Trout Creek High School in 1978, after which she completed nursing school and started dating Al Zimmerman in 1979. They moved to Rock Springs, WY for a brief time, and then Williston, ND.

    Sandy and Al were married in Ewen, MI on July 16, 1981. They lived in Williston with Al’s son Al until 1985 where they welcomed their son Jeremy in 1982 and daughter Heather in 1984. They  settled in West Fargo, ND in 1985. Sandy started working at Rosewood on Broadway in 1987 as an LPN. She continued working at Rosewood until her colorectal cancer diagnosis in April of 2016.

     Sandy was a strong woman of faith and was always selfless when it came to others. She had a tremendous sense of humor, making jokes even during her last day. Sandy’s treasures in life were always her husband, children, and later on, her eight (soon to be nine) grandchildren. As compassionate as she was, it comes as no surprise that she always enjoyed her time in long term healthcare and having the opportunity to have such a positive impact on so many lives.

     Sandy enjoyed spending time at the lake in Perham, MN that they bought solely for quality family time. She loved watching her grandchildren’s events including hockey, t-ball, swimming lessons, figure skating, dance and football. Sandy always looked forward to the many family activities and trips; whether it was to the local zoo, or going to Michigan or Disney World. She loved and will pass on many family traditions, most important of them all just being together.

     She was preceded in death by her father, Gerald Larson; mother-in-law, Bethel Zimmerman; nephew, Brandon Bunnell; and grandmothers and grandfather.

    Sandy is survived by husband, Al; son, Al (Denise Engebretson) of West Fargo; son, Jeremy (Stephanie) of Fargo; daughter Heather (Grant) Carlson of West Fargo; grandchildren: Daeja, Cayden, Jaeda, Pyper, Ashtyn, Grace, Noah and Faith; mother, Gloriann Larson of West Fargo; brothers, Brian Larson of Menahga, MN; Kevin (Brenda) Larson of Park Rapids, MN; Jayme (Brenda) Larson of Menahga MN; sister, Dori (David) Bunnell of Devils Lake, ND; father-in-law Carl Zimmerman of West Fargo; sister-in-law Tina (Frank) Holland of Gardiner, MT; grandfather, Onie (Betty) Samuelson of Menahga, MN; many nieces and nephews; aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral Services:  11 a.m., Friday, October 6, 2017, Faith Lutheran Church, West Fargo.

Visitation:  5 to 7 p.m., Thursday,  October 5, followed by a 7 p.m. Prayer Service all at the church

Interment:  Maple Sheyenne Lutheran Cemetery, rural Harwood, ND
