Roger Langseth Obituary

Devoted son, husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend, Roger Warren Langseth passed away on March 14, 2019 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Roger was born on August 25, 1949 to Gordon and Ione Langseth. Roger grew up on the family farm near Amenia, ND. Learning the love of farming from his dad and his grandpa Hans, at a young age he was driving tractor and trucks and helping with fieldwork whenever and however he could.

He attended Amenia Elementary School, Oak Grove Lutheran High School in Fargo and Wahpeton State School of Science. He made lifelong friends in high school where he played basketball, football, ran track and field and sang with the choir. He continued to be active in sports and activities playing amature softball and basketball for several years.

Roger married Betty Dotzenrod in 1974. Together they farmed near Argusville and raised their two children.

His love of music was a huge part of his life. He sang with the church choir, school choir and was a member of the Great Plains Harmony Barbershop Chorus for 35 years. One of his last performances with the chorus was the international competition in Toronto, Canada. He was so proud to be a part of such an amazing group of men who shared his passion for singing.

Roger farmed for 25 years - a “job” he loved. When he no longer farmed he sold farm equipment enjoying working with farmers and being connected at a different level to the land. He found another favorite job later on as a motor coach driver for Valley Bus. He became the driver for NDSU athletic teams. He especially enjoyed driving for the NDSU Women’s Softball team. The coaches and girls became like family to him - a very special relationship.

Roger married Geri (Bergman) Bullock on March 29, 2003. They shared the joy of life with family and friends. Their common passions - their children and 18 grandchildren, their cabin on Cotton Lake, NDSU Athletics, Green Bay Packers and travelling. Roger and Geri were best friends before and throughout their marriage.

Roger is survived by his wife Geri, son Justin (Jacinta Rooney), daughter Kari (Ryan) Ayers, stepson John (Amy) Bullock, stepdaughter Jessica Bullock, 18 grandchildren Ari, Tori, Zoe, Logan, Lennox, Noah, Isaiah, Jonah, Grace, Ainsley, William, Lauren, George, Angeline, Abby, Arlene, Alley, and Gavin, brothers Marc (Mary) Langseth, Jon (Dana) Langseth, sister Paula Langseth and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Gordon and Ione (Anstadt) Langseth, Phil and Margie Bergman, Rudy Dotzenrod, and Betty Dotzenrod.

Roger’s life was filled with love for his family and friends. The smile on his face, the hugs he gave and the friends he made along his life journey are evidence of a well lived life.

Rest in peace Roger. We love you and you will always be with us.

The family would like to thank the staff of Sanford for the compassionate and professional care they gave Roger and his family.
