Rodney Curtis

Rodney E. Curtis, 77, Fargo, ND passed away on Friday, June 21, 2019 at Sanford Medical Center, Fargo.

Rodney Eugene Curtis was born on September 2, 1941 in Minneapolis, MN to Willard and Loretta (Johnson) Curtis.  He graduated from Robbinsdale High School in 1959. Rodney married Darlene Miller in 1960, moved to Grand Forks, ND in 1963, then later to Thompson, ND in 1971.  After a divorce in 1982 he married Bonita VanDeLaare in 1983.  Rodney started at Great Northern Railroad in 1958, which changed in later years to Burlington Northern Railroad. In 1985 they moved to Fargo and then in 1986 they relocated to Chicago until 1995, when Rodney retired after 36 years with the railroad. 

Rodney loved creating and collecting custom model trains.  He was a member of the Elks Lodge, past President of the Burlington Northern Employees Club, former treasurer of a Cub Scout Troop, Chamber of Commerce Membership Drive, Board of Directors and President of the Traffic Club and Sergeant of Arms of the Spud Valley Model Railroad Club.

Rodney is survived by his wife Bonita Curtis, of Fargo, ND, six children: Valerie (Jon) Grzeskowiak, of Mankato, MN, Gregory Curtis, of Marianna, FL, Jeffory Curtis, of Grand Forks, ND, Laurel (Richard) Thompson, of West Fargo, ND, Douglas (Denise) Curtis, of Dallas, TX, and Mark (Suzanne) Cox, of Olalla, WA, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Other survivors include his siblings: Steven Curtis, of Rogers, MN, Peggy (Norman) Dibble, of Maple Grove, MN, and Melissa Curtis, of St. Peter, MN.

Rodney was preceded in death by his parents, brother Brian and sister Renae Curtis.

Visitation:  Tuesday, June 25, 2019 from 2 PM until 3 PM at West Funeral Home, West Fargo, ND.

Memorial Service: Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at 3 PM at West Funeral Home, West Fargo, ND.
