Robert F. Borth, 83, Sheldon, IA died on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2019 in Sheldon.
Robert Frederick Borth was born in Jamestown, North Dakota, to Rueben Edmund and Emily Lyle Borth. He grew up in Jamestown, ND and graduated from Jamestown High School. He served in the ND National Guard for a few years before attending Jamestown College where he graduated with a degree in Business and Art.
Robert married Doris Rustad in Horace, North Dakota on January 28, 1961. They made their home at Council Bluffs, Iowa. Through the years, the family lived in Springfield, IL, Moline, IL, Sioux City, IA, Lincoln, NE, Selina, KS, Racine, WI, Hammond, IN, Moorhead, MN, Duluth, MN, Minot, ND then to Sheldon, IA following Robert’s work with the Kmart Corporation and later Ben Franklin. He also worked several years in George, IA at Sudenga Industries.
He earned an Eagle Scout award and was a High School and College athlete. Robert was also a wood carver and furniture maker, enjoyed the outdoors, camping and boating and liked to play tennis and golf. He was an avid reader, listened to Jazz music and old radio shows.
Robert is survived by his wife, Doris; three children, Michael of West Fargo; Lisa Danielson of Green Bay, WI, Christopher of Milford Iowa; and sister Debi Borth, Kingston, WA.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Donations can be made to the Horace Lutheran Church, in Horace, North Dakota or the University of Jamestown.
Funeral: Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at 11:00 AM at West Funeral Home Chapel, West Fargo, ND with visitation one hour prior.
Burial: Horace (ND) Lutheran Cemetery.
