Riley Koehnen

Riley Steven Koehnen was born on August 11, 1992, in Fargo, ND, to Steve and Deana Koehnen, as the charismatic youngest to a busy family.  He grew up in West Fargo, ND, and graduated from West Fargo High School in 2011.  Hockey was a passion of his, and he was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially ice fishing, and spent as much time as he could outside.  He loved to travel and explore new places, especially with his family.  Riley would do anything for his family and friends and loved spending time with his nieces and nephews making them giggle.  He truly could light up a room and make anyone feel at ease.

Riley lost his relentless battle with addiction on July 5, 2018.  He is survived by his parents, Steve and Deana Koehnen of West Fargo, ND and his siblings: Rochelle Koehnen of West Fargo, ND; Josh and Kristin Koehnen and their children Brynlee, Broden, and Britta of Hutchinson, MN; Nick and Rachel Ulmer and their children Maxten, Azlyn, and Maizy of Harwood, ND; Jared Koehnen of West Fargo, ND; and Vanja Dezelic, Rob Foster, and Tihana Fuss-Dezelic and their children Mia and Ana of Medina, OH; and a large extended family.

Although there is peace knowing he is finally at rest from his struggles, there are no words to describe how much he was loved by everyone around him, and how much he and his heart of gold will be missed.

In lieu of flowers, monetary donations received will be given to various recovery centers important to Riley in his journey.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 1:30 PM followed by an open house all at Triumph Lutheran Church, Moorhead, MN until 4 PM.
