Rick Brandvold

Richard Duane Brandvold, Jr., 63, West Fargo, ND, passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at his home.

The second of six children born to Dick and Marcella Brandvold, Richard Duane Brandvold, Jr. began his voyage through life on December 4th, 1955. He attended school in Moorhead and later Fargo, spent his summers working on a family farm near Lankin, and took various jobs around the F-M area, including making pizza for Mamma Mia’s and being a lot boy for Muscatell. He married his high school girlfriend, Deb, and together they had three children, Andrew, Lisa and Richard the III. While the marriage didn’t last, his commitment to them did, Rick was always there when they needed a helping hand. He married Sandra Yeado in the summer of 1992, and while they ultimately didn’t make it, once again his generous nature inspired him to do what he could to help Sandy and his new children, Jennifer and Kirsten. In 2006 he took a job with DTL in West Fargo. Combining his work ethic and 30 years of experience in transportation, he engineered a partnership with Bison Transportation and helped guide a company on the brink into an era of incredible prosperity. While at DTL he met Renae Perry, with whom he shared the last and some of the best years of his life.

Those who knew Rick through the various phases of his life will all remember a man who never gave up no matter how bad it got. A man who always had your back, who told it like it was and had a zest for living that permeated every room he entered. But mostly, you can remember his stories, the ones we all heard a million times, the ones where sometimes the details changed but the ending never disappointed. The stories we all want to hear for the millionth and first time.

Rick was a devoted father, a loving partner and the best friend you could hope to meet.  This part of his journey with us is over, but it was a hell of a ride.

Ricks legacy will be carried on by those who survive him, his siblings Ed Brandvold, Bonnie Johnson, Ron Brandvold, Carrie (Bob) Banish and Scott Brandvold. His children, Andrew (Amber) Brandvold, Lisa (Shane) Brewer, Richard III(Brooke) Brandvold, Jennifer (Mike) Lipetzky, and Kirsten Yeado. His grandchildren Gage and Sadie Brewer, Rikki and Odin Brandvold, Caitlin Yeado, Kylie Mitchell, McKenna and Ethan Lipetzky . His partner Renae Perry and her children Taylor and Cole. His dogs Chloe, Mandee and Regan.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Marcella, and by Riley and Abby his beloved Shelties.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made to an ALS organization.

Visitation: Thursday, February 7, 2019 from 5 until 6 PM with a 6 PM prayer service at West Funeral Home, West Fargo.

Funeral:  Friday, February 8, 2019 at 11 AM at West Funeral Home, West Fargo with visitation one hour prior to the service.
