Pearl (Swanson) Gross

   Pearl C. Gross, 87, Moorhead, MN passed away on Friday, November 8, 2019 at River Pointe Assisted Living, Moorhead, MN.

   Pearl Clara Swanson was born December 8, 1931 at Wheatland, ND to Fred and Ruth (Jabs) Swanson.  She attended grade school and graduated from high school in Wheatland.  On June 11, 1948, Pearl married William “Al” Gross in Casselton, ND.

   After their marriage, Pearl was a homemaker until after their children graduated from high school.  She was very active in Martins Lutheran Church in Casselton.  Over the years, Pearl and Al lived in Wahpeton, ND, Lake Tamarack and in Detroit Lakes, MN, as well as Casselton.  Pearl’s working career included being a cook in a number of restaurants in Minnesota near where they lived and a licensed practical nurse after earning her LPN degree in Detroit Lakes.  After retiring, Pearl took up wood carving, making many pieces for gifts, to sell, or donate to worthy causes.  She also entered many of her pieces at the county fair, winning the competition with a number of them.

   Pearl is survived by her children: William (Janet) Gross, Keren Thomas, and Ellen (Scott) Schedel along with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister Millie Dahl, brothers: John (Judy) Swanson, Paul (Patricia Dirk) Swanson, Roy Swanson, and Robert (Lynn) Swanson.

   Pearl was preceded in death by her her parents, husband William “Al” Gross; daughter Nancy (Allan) Mosbaek, sisters June (John) Reik and Florence (Clarence) Anderson.

Visitation:  Monday, November 18, 2019 from 1 PM until 2 PM at West Funeral Home, West Fargo.

Memorial service: Monday, November 18, 2019 at 2 PM at West Funeral Home, West Fargo.

Burial: Casselton Cemetery at a later date.
