Paula Rogers

Paula Rogers, 64, of Horace went to meet Jesus, on September 28th, 2017.  She was surrounded by her loving family.

Paula Jean Mickelson was born March 27th, 1953 in Rolla, ND.   Paula was the oldest of seven children.  She graduated from Rolla High School in 1971.  She graduated from Valley City State University in 1975 and earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Technology from Leslie University in Boston, MA in 2010.   After a long friendship that started in 3rd grade she married Rich Rogers August 16, 1975. 

She began her 42-year career in education teaching elementary education in Alexander, ND in 1975. She also taught in Towner, ND 1979-1989, in Washburn, ND from 1989-1996, Bismarck in 1996-97 and finished her career in Langdon, ND.  Recently she has been providing professional development online to teachers all over the world working part time for the Learning A-Z Reading Company.

Paula was passionate about her career and loved working with students.  She was named the state’s Outstanding Title 1 Teacher in 2011.  She was always very active in her church community attending Bible Studies, teaching Sunday school and working with AWANA.  She adored the friendships throughout the years with her many sisters in Christ.

Paula was a devoted wife, loving mother and encouraging friend.  She enjoyed the time spent with her sister Robin Gefroh of Mesa, AZ.  Decorating her new home in Horace and cabin on Strawberry Lake along with the time spent in her flower gardens brought her much joy and pleasure.  Most of all, the time spent with Rich and her three children and caring for those beautiful grand children were the shining lights in her world.

Paula is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Rich. Her Children Josh (Laura) Rogers, Mandan, ND, Logan (Lindsay) Rogers, Missoula, MT, and Megan (Ben) Ebertz, Minnetonka, MN and her grandchildren, Lincoln, Liam, Liv, Dylan and another Rogers baby due in November.

She is preceded in death by her father Roy Mickelson, sister Jane Good, and father-in-law Beryl Rogers.
