Orin Larson

Orin Larson, 96, Fargo, ND died on Sunday, Dec. 23, 2018 at Edgewood Vista in Fargo, ND.

Orin Leonard Larson was born Nov. 3, 1922 at Galesburg, ND to Lars and Ingeborg (Olson) Larson. He graduated from high school there and enlisted in the US Navy serving during WWII. He worked as an aircraft mechanic with Corsair Aircraft. Upon discharge, he returned to North Dakota. Orin married T. Jeanette Klabo on May 13, 1950. They made their home in Finley, ND for a short time and then moved to Clifford, ND where they lived in the railroad depot before buying their own home. Orin worked as the depot agent in Clifford, Galesburg, Portland and Emerado, ND. In 1973, they moved to Mayville. He retired at the age of 60. He then worked as a handy man in the Mayville area doing painting, hanging blinds and wallpaper.

Upon retirement, Orin and Jeanette enjoyed traveling and winters in Myrtle Beach, SC. He enjoyed men’s night with friends at the Mayville Golf Club. Family was of utmost importance whether raising their children or time with grandchildren or great grandchildren.  They moved to Fargo in 2013 and had resided at Edgewood Vista. Jeanette passed away in October of 2013.

He is survived by a daughter, Ione Bachman, Muscatine, IA; son, Kim (Karla) Larson, Casselton, ND; four grandchildren, Cory (Molly) Bachman, Melissa (Mariano) Rodriguez, Mitch Hoesel and Kayla (Mike) Hardy; five great grandchildren, Emily, Isabel, and Adyson Rodriguez, and Ivy and Lily Bachman; and a brother, Louis (Joyce) of Fargo.

Orin was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette; three infant siblings; two sisters, Marion and Kathleen and a brother, Lawrence.

Graveside committal with military rites will be held in the spring at the Mayville Cemetery.
