Mary Lou Ann Carlson, 88, Fargo, ND, formerly Jamestown, ND, passed away Saturday, September 7th, in Bethany Retirement Living.
Mary Lou was born April 4th, 1931, in Jud, ND, to Peter and Mary Hanson. She graduated from Jamestown High School in 1948 and married Robert Carlson in 1949. Mary Lou worked for an insurance company, owned and operated two restaurants and Carlson Nursery and Flowers in Jamestown. Flowers were her life’s joys and she worked tirelessly in the greenhouses seven days a week. Mary Lou was a great cook and made awesome pies. She loved putting together 1000-piece puzzles and playing bingo, pinochle, Yahtzee and Scrabble. She enjoyed cuddling with her grandchildren and getting lots of hugs and kisses.
Mary Lou is survived by four children: Alan (Sue) Carlson, Jamestown, ND; Jody (Curt) Anderson, West Fargo, ND; Steven (Agnes) Carlson, Philippines; and Mike Carlson, Spearfish, SD; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and brother Louis.
She was preceded in death by her husband; sons Brad and Ritchie; brothers Floyd, Donald, Arthur and Duane; sister Gladys; her parents; and one grandson Nathan Anderson.
The family extends a special thank you to the staff and residents of Bethany Retirement Living, her second family for almost 17 years.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 2 pm Wednesday, September 11, 2019, in Larsen Chapel of Bethany on 42nd, Fargo, with Visistation held one hour prior to the service.
BURIAL: 2 pm Thursday at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, ND.
