Martin “Marty” Dickey Schweitzer, 61, of West Fargo, ND, died Sunday, August 18, 2019, at Sanford Health after suffering a massive stroke.
Marty was born August 6, 1958, in Faith, SD, the son of Kenneth and Diana (Fish) Schweitzer. The family traveled to different locations in SD, WY, and ND until they moved to West Fargo in 1971. Marty graduated from West Fargo High School in 1976. He was employed for a time with Federal Beef, Fairway Foods, Buhler Industries and until his death at Norwood Sales in Fargo. Marty married his high school sweetheart, Janell Stalvik, on January 7, 1978 at Faith Lutheran Church in West Fargo. The couple lived in West Fargo where they raised and made many memories with their four daughters.
Marty enjoyed wood working, riding motorcycle with his grandson, camping and fishing at their seasonal lot on Big Stone Lake, near Ortonville, MN, watching TV and spending time with children and grandchildren who idolized him. He was a known jokester and had nicknames for everyone. He was a trivia whiz, full of unlimited information. Marty was the man you would call if you were ever in need, which is why he was his daughters’ hero. He will be so missed.
Left to share in his memory: the love of his life, wife Janell; children: Heather Paler, Tracy (Shawn) Heiraas and Ali (Kyle) Farstad all of West Fargo; grandchildren: Tanner, Sydney, Ava, Shay and Sawyer; siblings: Clint (Mark), of San Diego, CA, Ken Jr., of West Fargo, Stacey (Saadya), of West Fargo, Casey (Tina), of Rock Springs, WY and Shawn (Angie), of West Fargo.
