Lucile Albert passed away March 16, 2019, at the age of 97.
Lucile Emma Brix was born at Wheatland, ND to Hans Adolph and Lydia (Baldaun) Brix April 10, 1921. She grew up on a farm near Buffalo, ND and married Walter Albert January 19, 1939 at Moorhead, MN. They farmed near Erie, ND all their lives. They had four children, Katherine, Maxine, Gene, and Florence. Walter died May 29, 1983. Lucile continued to live on the farm.
Lucile belonged to the Erie Methodist Church and later the Arthur Methodist Church after the Erie Church closed. She was active in the Ladies Aid, Homemakers Club, and the Erie Community Club. She taught herself how to sew and made many clothes and quilts. She also taught herself how to crochet and embroider. She loved to garden and enjoyed tending to her flowers. She lived in the same house for 77 years and mowed her yard yet at age 97. As one of the Greatest Generation she lived through the hard times of drought, poor crops, and many years without the convenience of indoor plumbing or electricity.
Lucile is survived by her son Gene (Brenda) Erie, and two daughters, Maxine (Roger) Edland, McHenry, and Florence (Gary) Welharticky Breckenridge, MN, eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren, one sister-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Katherine (2013), infant grandson Eric, and all her siblings, Bertha, Mary, Herman, Henry, Anne, Fred, Walter, Margaret, Dorothy, and Harry.
Funeral Service: Thursday, March 21, 2019 at 2 PM at Arthur United Methodist Church, Arthur, ND with visitation one hour prior to the service.
