Keith William Solem, 56, passed away on Thursday, July 27, 2017, at his home in Horace, ND.

Keith Solem was born March 29, 1961, in Moorhead, MN, to Donald and Eleanor Johnson. After his father’s passing, his mother married Glen Solem and later adopted Keith. In 1979,  Keith graduated from East Grand Forks High School and then graduated from North Dakota State School of Science in 1981 with his degree in HVACR.  He started his career with a strong work ethic at Robert Gibb & Sons, Fargo, ND until leaving there in 2008 to start as the business owner of Schakelton Heating & Air Conditioning, having over thirty years of experience.

Keith was a noble man who enjoyed spending as much time outdoors and a love for wildlife. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time at home doing projects, reading, sports, hunting, and a history enthusiast.  There never was a dull moment with him around, with his sense of humor and storytelling. Keith was a loyal, selfless man who put the needs of his family over himself. He was loving and extremely proud of his two daughters, Samantha and Nicole.

Keith is survived by his two daughters Samantha Solem, 29, Colorado, and Nicole Solem, 23, of North Dakota. Also, his mother Eleanor Solem, step father Glen Solem;  brother Michael (Gayle) Solem, and sister Shawn Solem; as well as his aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and several close friends.  Keith was a huge animal enthusiast.

Memorial service for family and friends will be on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 from 5:30-7:00 PM at the Red River Valley Zoo, 4255 23rd Ave S, Fargo, ND 58104.
