Keith Lyle Hartwig

Keith Lyle Hartwig, age 74, of West Fargo, ND, died Wednesday, September 5, 2018 in Sanford Health Center, Fargo.

Keith was born December 2, 1943 in Beulah, ND, the son of Philip and Pauline (Bennet) Hartwig.  He grew up there and graduated from Beulah High School in 1961. He then attended Bismarck State College.  Keith enlisted in the US Air Force in 1965 and served until his Honorable discharge in 1969.

He was married to Cheri Busch, and three children were born to them.  They later divorced. In 1994, Keith met Betty Keller Volk, and they were married April 1, 2000 in Stillwater, MN.  Keith then became father to 5 more children.

Over the years, Keith had been a jack of all trades, working first as a parts salesman at Jim Ryan in Minot, as a truck driver in the oil fields near Williston and Dickinson, then for Motor Services in Minot.   In 1999, Keith moved to Fargo and worked at Petro Service USA. He later was a satellite tv system installer in the area, and most recently drove for Valley Senior Rides and Uber.

Keith enjoyed working on race cars, golfing, camping and fishing.  Mostly he loved spending time with his family and 17 grandchildren.  He is remembered as being fun loving, and as a jokester.

He is survived by his wife Betty, West Fargo; 8 children: Quinn Hartwig (Emiley Kertscher), Minot, Jason (Leann) Hartwig, Williston, Kent Hartwig, Minot, Dennis Volk, Des Lacs, ND, Warren Volk, Skillman, NJ, David (Karen) Volk, Bismarck, Anita (Chris) Johnson, Fargo, James (Angie) Volk, Fargo; and ex-daughter-in-law, Tracey Hartwig, Minot. Keith's 17 grandchildren: Regan, Remmington, Reilyn, Carson, Quinton, Aidon, Rylee, Taryn, Deion, Trey, Shanoah, Bryton, Jaylin, Ellie, Eva, Caleb, Cooper; his brother Duane (Donna) Hartwig, Beulah; and several nieces and nephews.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Bob, and one sister Betty.

    
VISITATION:  5PM - 7PM, Monday, September 10, 2018, with a PRAYER SERVICE held at 7PM, all in West Funeral Home, West Fargo.

FUNERAL SERVICE:  2:00PM Tuesday in West Funeral Home Chapel, West Fargo.

MILITARY HONORS:   US Air Force Honors Team and VFW Post #7564, West Fargo

BURIAL:  Fargo VA Cemetery (upon completion)
