Karen G. Larson, 84, of Fargo, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at Sanford Health in Fargo.
Karen Glee Larson was born May 25, 1935, in Fargo, the daughter of Chester and Della (Miller) Swenson. She was raised in Christine, ND, attending school through the eleventh grade and graduating from Fargo Central in 1953. After high school, Karen worked at Northwestern Bell Telephone as an operator and a secretary until her marriage to Chester Larson, March 2, 1968, at First Lutheran Church in Enderlin, ND. The couple lived and farmed southeast of Enderlin until retiring and moving to Fargo in 2004 and to One Oak Place in Fargo in 2015.
Karen was an active member of First Lutheran Church in Enderlin, teaching Sunday school and belonging to a Sewing Circle. Most recently they attended Atonement Lutheran Church in Fargo and spent time with the Folding Friends group. She especially loved attending the grandchildren’s activities and hosting countless family gatherings. She enjoyed gardening, cooking for her family and farm crews and crocheting. Karen was also very artistic and loved crafts, painting and drawing.
Grateful for having shared in her life: husband, Chet; children: Susan Thompson (Dave Sklebar) of Fargo, Kathy Larson Carlson (Jon Carlson) of Moorhead, MN and Chuck Larson (Jennifer Murphy) of Oak Park, Il; seven grandchildren: Hilary Miller (Javier), Brian Thompson (Mickayla), Sasha Larson, Tiffany Larson, Malia Larson, Ari Larson and Sena Larson; four great-grandchildren: Rowan Thompson, Charlie Miller, Solie Thompson and Andy Miller.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents: Chester and Della Swenson; brother: Charles Miller; sisters: Naomi Streich and Leone Larson.
Memorial Service: 10 a.m. Saturday, June 1, 2019, at Atonement Lutheran Church in Fargo.
Visitation: An hour prior to the service.
Burial: West St. Olaf Cemetery, rural Enderlin, ND.
