Joyce E. Gadberry, 86, of West Fargo and formerly of Apple Valley, MN, passed away Sunday, September 23, 2018, at Sheyenne Crossings in West Fargo.
Joyce Elaine Gadberry was born October 27, 1931 in Flint, MI, the daughter of William_ and Odessa (Shepherd) Haney. She was raised in Flint and graduated from Flint Northern High School. Following graduation, Joyce was employed at Buick Motors, an operator for Bell Telephone, a bookkeeper for brother-in-law at Schaeffer Office Supply all in Flint, MI. Joyce and Ray Gadberry were married September 14, 1957, at North Baptist Church in Flint. While living in Aberdeen, SD, Joyce served as the secretary for Plymouth Congregational Church. Due to Ray’s employment with Sears, the couple lived in seven states over the years, with the longest in Apple Valley, MN for 35 years. They moved to West Fargo in August of this year to be near family.
Joyce will be fondly remembered by family and friends for her dynamic personality. She was a talented artist in oil and acrylics. Joyce enjoyed calligraphy, raising exotic lilies, gardening, playing the piano and organ, downhill skiing and snowmobiling. She treasured a 900 piece, 80 square foot Dickens Village depicting London in Charles Dickens time.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Wilma Lehman, Vera Holman and Melba Rose Haney and brothers: Norman and William Haney.
Grateful for having shared in her life; husband of 61 years, Ray; children: David (Patty) Gadberry of Chanhassen, MN, Karen (Ahmed) Artz of Fes Morocco, and James (DeAnna) Gadberry of Harwood, ND; 7 grandchildren: Vanessa Gadberry, Bryan Van Wagner, Steven and Joseph Artz, Dakota Lassley, Benjamin Gadberry and Emily Gadberry; 2 great-grandchildren; sister: Leila (John) Schaeffer of Grand Blanc, MI.
