John R. Budge

John R. Budge, age 74 of Fargo, ND, formerly of St. Paul/Minneapolis and Moose Lake MN, died in his home, September 22, 2019 surrounded by loved ones.

John Richard Budge was born January 30, 1945, in St. Paul, MN, to John A. and Irma E. (Wathern) Budge.  He attended school in Moose Lake.  In 1962, he joined the US Navy and served for 3 years, 6 months, and during his enlistment, he also sailed the Great Lakes.

Following his discharge, John went to school for welding and worked as a welder for 12 years. His last job was as a custodian for 30 years, retiring from NDSU with awards.

John had many hobbies including fishing, fixing cars, watching football and just keeping busy anyway he could. He always was a helper and was loved and appreciated by many.

He is survived by his children, daughters Leah Budge and Tina Fish, both of Superior WI; his son John J. (Amy) of Fargo; 1 granddaughter Riley St. John, 3 grandsons Gabriel and  Michael Walker, and Levi Budge; his sister Lois Carr of Osseo, MN;  his sister in-law Eileen Budge of Moose Lake;  a niece and a nephew,  Kathy Planting and Al Carr;  along with his significant  other and companion Marilyn Weitz.

John was preceded in death by his parents, brother David, nephew Daniel, and brother in-law James Carr.

Funeral service: 2 p.m. Saturday September 28, 2019 at West Funeral Home and Life Tribute Center, West Fargo, ND, with Visitation held one hour prior to the service.  Military Honors will be provided by US Navy Honor Guard, and West Fargo VFW Post #7564 Honor Guard.

Placement will be in Fargo National Cemetery at a later date.
