John Jackson

John A. “Jack” Jackson, 85 of Leonard, ND, passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at Elim Care Center in Fargo.

Jack was born on April 14, 1932 to John H. and Louise (Schmitt) Jackson.  He attended grade school in a one room school house in rural Chaffee, ND and graduated from high school in Moorhead, MN.  He then attended and graduated from North Dakota Agricultural College.  On August 9, 1952 he married Lila Hagestad.  They lived in California for a short time while Jack was in the military.  They returned to Fargo and then to the Leonard area in 1955 where they raised their three boys and farmed for many years.

Jack was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in rural Leonard, the Chaffee Lions and the Chaffee school board.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, attending local sporting events, watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Lila.

Jack is survived by his sons, Rick (Dawn) Jackson of Grand Forks, ND, John R. Jackson of rural Leonard, ND and William “Rusty” (Lisa) Jackson of Leonard, ND; grandchildren, Brandon (Andrea) Jackson of Leonard, ND, Brian (Liz) Jackson of Fargo, ND, Justin Jackson of Grand Forks, ND, Carly (Alex Molstad) Jackson of Grand Forks, ND and Ciera Jackson of Grand Forks, ND and great-granddaughter, Irene Jackson of Leonard, ND.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Peter Lutheran Church or Watson Cemetery.

Visitation:      Sunday, November 26, 2017 from 5-7 pm at West Funeral Home in Casselton, ND and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

Prayer Service:     Sunday at 7 pm at the funeral home.

Funeral Service:      Monday, November 27 at 10:30 am at St. Peter Lutheran Church, rural Leonard, ND.

Interment:      Watson Cemetery, rural Leonard, ND.
