Joanne Timmerman

Joanne Alice Timmerman, 86, Fargo, ND died peacefully on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Bethany on South University surrounded by family.

Joanne Alice Odegard was born on December 24, 1931 in Fargo to Halvor and Almeda (Stewart) Odegard.  She grew up in Fargo and graduated from Fargo Central in 1949.  On April 5, 1952 she married Claus Timmerman in Moorhead, MN.  They made their home 5 miles east of Arthur on the Timmerman family farm.  She and Claus enjoyed dancing at Herb Johnson’s Barn, the 94 Club, their potluck group, and her Birthday Club.  They moved to West Fargo in 1971 and enjoyed dancing at the Hi 10, VFW, and Eagles Club.  During her lifetime she worked as a housewife and at various fabric stores: Kmart, Alco, Ben Franklin, Northwest Fabrics, and Hancock Fabrics, always persuing her love of crafting, sewing, and quilting.  She was proud of her Norwegian and Scottish heritage, loved casinos, playing cards, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and numerous items she made for Christmas and birthday gifts.

Joanne is survived by her children: Mary Kay (Terry) Madsen, of Rochert, MN, Barbi Timmerman, of Fargo, ND, Bob Timmerman, of Fargo, ND, and Patty (Brian) Peterson, of Sammamish, WA, 9 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, sister Mary Ann (George) Waxler, of Mapleton, ND,  and numerous other relatives.

Joanne was preceded in death by her husband Claus, sister Betty Lou Davis, and parents Halvor and Almeda.

Joanne’s family would like to thank  the staff at Bethany on University for their wonderful care and support.

Visitation: Thursday, July 26, 2018 from 11 AM to 1 PM at West Funeral Home, West Fargo, ND followed by the

Funeral: Thursday, July 26, 2018 at 1 PM at West Funeral Home, West Fargo, ND.

Burial: Arthur Cemetery, Arthur, ND following the service around 3:30 PM.
