JoAnn Paintner Obituary

JoAnn Paintner died peacefully at Eventide Sheyenne Crossings, West Fargo, on September 18, 2019 at the age of 76.

JoAnn Alyce (Cosley) Paintner was born January 11, 1943 at Hallock, MN to Walter and Eleanor (Grube) Cosley of Pembina, ND.  She spent her childhood years on the family farm south of Pembina, attending McArthur rural school and graduating from Pembina High School.  She enjoyed attending Sunday School, Girl Scouts and 4-H.   On June 5th, 1960 JoAnn was united in marriage to Dennis Paintner at Pioneer Memorial Methodist Church in Pembina.  They made their home in Cooperstown, ND where they raised their 4 children.  JoAnn was an attentive mother who kept her home tidy and well decorated. She enjoyed sewing, baking, crafts and visiting with friends.

In 1997, they moved to Fargo.  For 12 years JoAnn was a para-professional at Moorhead Elementary Schools.  JoAnn developed friendships quickly and enjoyed socializing in her birthday club and bunco groups.  Being together as a family was important to her and she especially enjoyed time with her grandkids.   Dennis and JoAnn spent summers at Long Lake Campsite in Detroit Lakes for 37 years.  Many memories were made with “the lake people”.  JoAnn suffered a stroke this past June and entered Sheyenne Crossings soon after.

JoAnn is survived by Dennis, her husband of 59 years; 4 children, Todd Paintner (Lisa Clower), Fargo;  Greg (Joan) Paintner, Hawley;  Lori (Scott) Hare, Jamestown;  Kari (Kerry) Smith, Carrington; grandchildren Brandi (Patrick) Kallenbach, Amy Paintner, Blaine Hare, Chris Hare, Cayden Hare, and Megan Flatt; great grandchildren Laiken and Paxton Kallenbach and Kysen Hare; brother Richard (Peggy) Cosley; sister Sharryn (Douglas) Finney; sister Shirley Cosley; sister-in-law Nadine Villella; sister-in-law Dianna Weber.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Morris Argue; sister Violet Pariseau; an infant brother; grandparents Albert and Rose Cosley and Joseph and Iva Grube and 3 nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to Ethos Hospice or Sheyenne Crossings.
