Jerry Gregerson, 76, Fargo, ND died on Friday, Sept. 13, 2019 at his home surrounded by family and with Hospice of the RRV.
Gerald Elmer Gregerson was born on Sept. 6, 1943 in Valley City, ND to Axel and Beatrice (Tooley) Gregerson. He was the youngest child of 14. He left school in his senior year to join the Navy until his older brother Butch wouldn’t let him go and brought him home. Jerry then went to work for the Valley City Power Plant. He joined the Army Guard. During that time, he was activated and if needed he could participate in the Bay of Pigs. Jerry was married and had two daughters. In 1968, he met Eleanor Waldahl and in June 1969 they married. From this marriage they had three sons.
They lived in California and Arizona where he worked at car dealerships. They returned to North Dakota in 1972 where they lived in Casselton before moving to Fargo. Jerry worked for Mobility, Versatile and HV Johnson Culvert Co. He then joined the Air Guard full time working with the fire department. During this time, he was a crash rescue fireman and was deployed to Idaho, Honduras, Spain, California as part of Enduring Freedom and finally to Afghanistan. After retiring, he helped his two sons deliver pharmaceuticals for the Responce and Dakota Drug.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Ellie; 5 children, Kim (Chuck) Roan of Hardin, MT, Gail (Charles) Gregerson of Detroit Lakes, MN, Shaun (Keri) of West Fargo, Charles (Megan) of Sioux Falls, SD and Jarett (Pam) of Alice; daughter in-laws, Tana and Shawna Gregerson; 9 grandchildren, Chad, Andrew, Keith, Alex, Victoria, Kelcie, Caleb, Colton and Taylor; 5 great grandchildren, Nevaeh, Hallie, Ezra, Indiana and Spencer; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; siblings: Jessie, Ruth, Frances, Axel, Jr “Bud”, Kenneth, Richard “Butch”, Mavis, Bette Ann, Rudolph, Patsy, Donald, Ronald and Jimmy; Lloyd and Roslyn Waldahl, and Paul Waldahl.
Visitation: Friday, Sept. 20, 2019 from 5 to 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM at West Funeral Home, West Fargo, ND.
Funeral: Saturday, Sept. 21 at 10:30 AM at St. John Lutheran Church, Embden, ND with visitation one hour prior.
Burial: St. John Cemetery, Embden.
