Harvey Duane Thomas

Harvey Duane Thomas, 81, of Fargo, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2017, at his home, surrounded by his family and under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Harvey was born August 1, 1936, in Pelican Rapids, MN, the son of Ellis and Luella (Senn) Thomas.  The family moved to near Arthur, ND where he was raised and educated, graduating from high school in Arthur.   He was employed as a farm laborer, worked in a steel mill in Minneapolis and was later while working was injured while delivering furniture and appliances. Harvey and his special friend, Betty Lien, enjoyed going out to eat and playing bingo.

In his younger years, Harvey enjoyed fishing and deer hunting.  Playing cards, dice, puzzles, note pad games and bingo were favorite past times.  He was a former member of the Moose Lodge.

Grateful for having shared in his life are his sister:  Debra Thomas of Fargo;  nephew:  Jeffery (Dominique) Speer of Fargo, niece:  Margaret Speer of Dilworth, MN,  special friend:  Betty Lien of Fargo; Step children: John, James, Diane, Robert, Jean, Kerry, Mary. Grand Children: John, Elizabeth, Cheri, Daniel, Lisa, Johnathan, James, Jessica, Chris, Tina, Scott, Mike, Todd, and Erica and many great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife:  Terry Joseph; and an infant son:  Duane.

Memorial Service:  7 p.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at West Funeral Home in West Fargo.
