Gene A. Johnson, 75, one of the greatest men you could ever meet, and you couldn’t pray for a better dad, of Wyndmere, ND passed away on Friday, March 29, 2019 at Bethany on 42nd Retirement Living, Fargo, ND.
Gene was born on July 1, 1943 at Wahpeton, ND to Raymond and Leona (Wateland) Johnson. In 1969 Gene was drafted into the US Army and served two tours in Vietnam until 1971 when he was honorably discharged. He married Linda Johnson and had two sons; Wayde and Duane. Later he was partnered with Alice Mayer and had four children; Eric, Aaron, Amanda and Ashley. Gene drove semi and operated heavy equipment for the city of West Fargo.
Gene is survived by three sons: Wayde, Duane, and Aaron (Donna Burcham), two daughters: Amanda and Ashley (Sean Reed), two grandsons Kristopher and Jason, two granddaughters Leah and Alyviana, sister Sharon (Charles) Erbstoesser and many nieces and nephews.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents; Leona and Raymond, son Eric, five brothers: Richard Johnson, Elroy Johnson, Paul Johnson, Van Johnson, and Erland Wateland; 2 sisters: Verna Matthews and Tamara Goltz, along with aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation: Wednesday, April 3, 2019 from 5 to 7 PM at the West Funeral home, West Fargo, ND.
Funeral Service: Thursday, April 4, 2019 at 1 PM at West Funeral Home, West Fargo with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Burial with military Rites: At a later date at the new National Veterans Cemetery, Fargo, ND.
