Gale Bartholomay

Gale B. Bartholomay, Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather, age 91, of Fargo , North Dakota, passed away in his sleep on May 8, 2018.

Gale was born on December 9th, 1926, to Henry 'Hank' and Ida (Anderson) Bartholomay and was raised on the family farm near Leonard, ND. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and proudly worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company for 38 years. He married Selma Thompson on June 19, 1954 in Hatton, ND.

Gale and Selma raised their children on the north side of Fargo and were active in their community. They were members of Peace Lutheran Church for over 60 years, and they enjoyed traveling south to Texas for many winters after Gale's retirement. Gale was a member of the American Legion, Telephone Pioneers, and was involved in community groups including the Golden K Kiwanis, Eagles,  American Legion and many others. He loved playing cards and bowling in leagues at Northport Red River Lanes from the 1960's until the end of the 2018 Seniors league season. He also enjoyed his last run to the casino only weeks before he passed.

Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Selma, a resident of Villa Maria in Fargo; his children Dave (Janis Taramelli) of Circle Pines, MN; Lisa Ebbenga (Bryan) of Kasota, MN; Mark (Tanis) of Minnetonka, MN; and Gregg of St. Peter, MN; five grandchildren; Kyle Bartholomay, Ashley and Garret Ebbenga, Alaina (David) Eckwright and Tricia Bartholomay; and one great grandchild Hailey Eckwright; sister Jean Sweeney of Fargo; and sister-in-law Alice Bartholomay of Minneapolis, MN.  Gale was preceded in death by his parents; brother Tom and sister Mace.

Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.

Funeral:   2PM Friday, May 11, 2018 in West Funeral Home Chapel, West Fargo, ND. with Visitation  held one hour prior to his service

Burial:  Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, ND
