Gail Richter, 44, died on Wednesday October 30, 2019 at home surrounded by her family. She fought a courageous battle against breast cancer.
Gail Lynn (Baumgarn) Richter was born on July 15, 1975 in Lisbon, ND to Norman and Peggy (Klipfel) Baumgarn. She attended all 12 years of school and graduated as Valedictorian of Rolla High School in 1993. During high school she participated in girls basketball, track, cheerleading, band, choir, FHA, National Honor Society, Student Council and was a State Officer for FHA. She attended the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks and graduated in 1997 with a BA degree in Accounting. She then completed the examination requirements for her CPA license. At UND she was a proud member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. While there she was House Manager, Vice President of Finance, and Membership Chair Ritualist. Gail started working as an analyst at Blue Cross/Blue Shield in Fargo, ND and has been there for over twenty years. She had many roles there, including being a Team Leader and was currently the Director of Finance. For the last two years she was involved in the Business Transformation Project at BC/BS which she took great pride in.
Gail married Todd Richter on July 27, 1996 in Rolla, ND. Gail and Todd lived in Hope, ND, West Fargo, ND and now have been in Casselton, ND for 14 years. They attended many school activities, especially sporting events of their daughters. Gail was the #1 cheerleader for not only Payton and Tori's sports teams but for all of the Casselton teams. She was noted for the hundreds of pictures that she took and shared with family and friends or posted to social media. She was also very active in the community of Casselton, Martins Lutheran Church and at BC/BS. She was a past member of Martins Lutheran Church Council and taught Junior Achievement at Central Cass Elementary School. Her enthusiasm, dedication, and work ethic showed every day at the office by the co-workers that she influenced and with whom she interacted.
Gail leaves behind her husband Todd, and two daughters, Payton and Victoria "Tori", her parents Norman and Peggy Baumgarn of Grand Forks, ND, brother Kevin (Julie) of Lakota, ND their children Kylee and Jaxon, along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, from the Baumgarn family. She also leaves behind her mother-in-law Arlene Richter of Jamestown, ND, sister-in-law Michelle Polries of Fargo, ND, sister-in-law Paula (Mark) Grueneich of Jamestown, ND, brother-in-law Pat (Jamie) Richter of Walker, MN, and the rest of their families.
Gail was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Earl and Verna Baumgarn, maternal grandparents Richard and Esther Klipfel, and her father-in-law Vernon Richter.
Visitation: 5 – 7 pm Friday, November 1, 2019, with a Prayer Service held at 7 pm, all in Martin’s Lutheran Church, Casselton.
Funeral: 11 am Saturday, November 2, 2019 in Martin’s Lutheran Church, Casselton.
