Emily O. Mayer, 70, of West Fargo, died Monday, February 18, 2019, at her home surrounded by her family and under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Emily was born July 18, 1948, in Crookston, MN the daughter of Octive and Cecelia (Duffy) Fortier. She was raised and attended St. Joseph’s School in Crookston. Emily married Jessie Mayer April 25, 1981, at the Community Presbyterian Church in West Fargo. The couple made their home in West Fargo. Emily did baby sitting for a time, but through the years was employed at Davon Press, Hardees, and cleaning Fargo and West Fargo Housing.
She enjoyed crocheting stocking caps, jig saw puzzles, find-a-words, the outdoors, sitting on the patio, camping, bowling, snowmobiling with the Sheyenne Valley Riders, NASCAR racing, but especially the time spent with her family.
Emily is survived by her husband: Jessie; sons: Terry (Tana Davis) Grieger, Tod Grieger, Tim (Heather) Larson; a daughter: Nicole (Corey Driscoll) Mayer all of West Fargo; 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; sisters: Jean Hanson of Crookston, MN and Alice Cumming of Springsteel Resort, Warroad, MN and brother: Patrick Fortier of Glyndon, MN.
Emily was preceded in death by a daughter: Barbara Johinack; siblings: Anna Mae Strid, Bernard Fortier, Ellen Patenaude, Robert Fortier and Rosemary Riendeau.
