Elda Mickelson, 97, Casselton, ND died on Monday, June 11, 2018 in Fargo, ND with family by her side.
Elda Rosemund Beilke was born Sept. 19, 1920 at Embden, ND to Edwin and Emma (Seehafer) Beilke. She grew up at Embden. The family moved to Wheatland, ND where Elda graduated from high school. She moved to Oakland, California where she worked at Moore Dry Dock as a ship builder during the war. Elda married Alvin Mickelson on June 25, 1946 at Embden. They lived for a short time at Wheatland and Pelican Rapids, MN before settling in Casselton. Alvin died in 1967. She began working at the Casselton Post Office and retired from there in 1985.
Elda enjoyed knitting, crocheting, crosswords and gardening. She also handmade calendars for many years.
She is survived by three children, Linda (Tom) McConnell, Springfield, MO, Sharon (Bill) Demaray, Burnsville, MN and Dean (Sandy) Mickelson, Longmont, CO; three grandchildren, Rebecca (Antonio) McClinon, Matt (Michelle) Demaray and Chad (Jenny) Demaray; six great grandchildren, A.J. McClinon and Ella, Clara, Owen, Jack and Wesley Demaray; two brothers, Martin Beilke, Weslaco, TX and Erwin (Jean) Beilke, Fargo; brother-in-law, Marlow Smith, Casselton; and sister-in-law, Grayce Beilke, Aberdeen, SD.
Elda was preceded in death by her husband; brothers, Arvid, Albin (Evelyn) and Ewald; sisters, Ruth (Tommy) Thompson and Angie Smith; and sister-in-law, Viola Beilke.
Memorials are preferred to Martin's Lutheran Church.
Visitation: Wednesday, June 13, 2018 from 6:30 to 8 PM with a prayer service at 8 PM at West Funeral Home, Casselton.
Funeral: Thursday at 3 PM at Martin's Lutheran Church, Casselton with visitation one hour prior.
Burial: Casselton Cemetery.
