Duane Dickson

Duane Dickson, 81, of Hunter, ND, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2019, surrounded by family at Sanford Palliative Care Unit in Fargo, ND.

Duane Jerome Dickson was born on November 28, 1937, in Fargo, ND to Kernahan Jr. and Thelma (Huwe) Dickson. Duane grew up in Hunter, ND where he attended school until the 7th Grade and finished his education in Mesa, AZ. He attended college at Arizona State University and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Business Degree in 1960. Following graduation, he returned to Hunter to farm.

On November 11, 1961, Duane married Corinne Fralish in First Lutheran Church of Hunter. They made their home on the family farm west of Hunter. Duane continued to be active in the farming operation until his death. Duane loved his hometown and the community of Hunter. During his life he was active and served in many different capacities for different Hunter organizations including First Lutheran Church, Hunter Grain Company, and the Hunter Community Club. Throughout the years Duane could often be found at the Hunter Cafe telling or listening to stories over a cup of coffee. Duane enjoyed being on bowling and curling teams in his younger years. He enjoyed spending time with family at his lake home or wintering with his wife in Arizona. During his time in Arizona, he enjoyed his coffee meetings with other farmers from the Midwest and Canada. Duane also enjoyed attending various NDSU sporting events in several different states over the years.

Duane is survived by his wife, Corinne, Hunter, ND; children Charlene (Frank) Burggraf, Fargo, ND, Brenda (Paul) Larson, Hunter, ND, Jon (Kylie) Dickson, Hunter, ND; grandchildren, Alexa Larson, Anna Burggraf, Miah Larson, Elle Larson, McKenna Burggraf, Jacob Larson, Lila Dickson, and Aiden Dickson.

Duane was preceded in death by his son Brad; parents, Kernahan Jr. and Thelma; and sister, Darlene Durham.

A Celebration of Life service for Duane will be held on September 19, 2019, at 2pm at First Lutheran Church of Hunter. The Family requests that memorials be directed to the Sanford Roger Maris Cancer Center or any cause that is close to your heart.
