Derek Bubach, 55, Fargo, ND died on Saturday, May 19, 2018 in a Phoenix, Arizona Hospital surrounded by family.
Derek Richard Bubach was born on September 26, 1962 in Hankinson, ND to Richard and Bonnie Bubach. He grew up in Lidgerwood, ND and later graduated from Lidgerwood High School. He attended North Dakota State College of Science (NDSCS) in Wahpeton. Derek graduated with degrees in Electronic Technology and Computer Systems Technology. Recruited out of college, Derek began employment with Hewlett-Packard in Lake Stevens, WA in 1983.
On July 14, 1984, Derek was united in marriage to his best friend, Julie Anderson, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Wahpeton, ND. They resided in Washington State until 1991 when they moved to Fargo. Derek worked with Diagnostic Medical Health Systems (DMS) for 26 years. At DMS he started employment as a Service Engineer and advanced professionally to a position of Zone Service Manager for North Dakota and Minnesota. In February of this year, he began working as a Project Manager with Philips Medical Systems. Throughout his years in the industry, Derek acquired many friends and professional colleagues across the states of ND, MN and SD.
Derek and Julie were longtime members of Sts. Anne & Joachim Catholic Church where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a past Parish Council Member and a church volunteer for many years. He enjoyed traveling, summers at their cabin on Big Pine Lake, MN along with golfing, fishing, grilling, music and electronics. Derek had a great sense of humor. He was known for his one of a kind giggle and kind heart. His playful, infectious personality was loved by many.
Derek is survived by his wife, Julie; sons, Brian of Phoenix, AZ, Aaron & Evan of Fargo; his mother, Bonnie of Fargo; and sister, Christine (Jim) Mahowald of Sartell, MN. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard.
Visitation: Tuesday, May 29, 2018 from 5 to 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM at Sts. Anne & Joachim Catholic Church, 5202 25th St S, Fargo.
Funeral Mass: Wednesday at 10:30 AM at Sts. Anne & Joachim Catholic Church with visitation one hour prior.
Burial: Holy Cross Cemetery – South, Fargo.
