Dean Yokom, 64, of Casselton, passed away Monday, May 27, 2019, at his home, surrounded by his family after a two year battle with liver disease and bile duct cancer.
Dean Curtis Yokom was born December 28, 1954 to Charles and Alice (Paulson) Yokom.He graduated from Central Cass High School and attended NDSCS in Wahpeton for Auto Body repair.
Dean was a member of the Casselton Volunteer Fire Department and worked at John T Jones Construction. He was a field mechanic for Swanton Equipment for over 25 years, retiring from there in February of this year. In 1996, he married Alexis Murphy in English’s Red Room. They had two daughters Alicia and Chelsea.
Dean enjoyed woodworking, remodeling his house, attending the activities of his children and grandchildren. He loved watching the Bison and hanging around the house with his family. The fourth of July was his favorite holiday when he could “blow up the neighborhood”. Dean enjoyed “rocking out” to his favorite tunes on his stereo. He had been an avid bowler and enjoyed watching football and NASCAR on Sunday afternoons. Dean loved his children, grandchildren and his Beagle Bailey.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters: Alicia Yokom and Chelsea Yokom both of Fargo; step daughter: Hilary Woods (Jason Hust); step sons: Billy (Patty) Woods of Stevensville, MI; Aaron (Jamie) Woods of Fargo; grandchildren: Ben Hust, Jaidyn Hust; Annie, Troy, Abby, and Jackson Woods, Emma and Brody Woods; a brother: Keith (Inga) Yokom of Coon Rapids, MN; nephews: Jim (Mindy) and Brian (Denise) Yokom and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Alice Yokom.
Memorial Service: 2 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2019, West Funeral Home Chapel in Casselton, ND.
