Dallas E. Grieger, 85, Amenia, ND went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018 at his home surrounded by family with Hospice of the RRV.
Dallas Eldred Grieger was born Feb. 25, 1933 on the family farm near Mason, ND to John and Hattie (Priewe) Grieger. He attended the Tonn Country School near Arthur and graduated from high school in Erie, ND. He was drafted into the US Army and served in the 47th Infantry. Following his discharge, he returned to the family farm where he helped his dad. Dallas met his wife to be Carol Stangeland at a roller skating rink in Fargo in 1959 and they were married on Nov. 25, 1960 in Fargo, ND. They made their home on the farm near Amenia where they farmed and raised livestock. Through the years, he had milk cows, pigs, chickens, geese, ducks, goats, cats and Hereford and Angus cattle. Dallas especially loved the cattle. In his retirement, he enjoyed helping his sons with the harvest.
Dallas was an avid collector of toy tractors and trains. He loved going to auction sales and enjoyed blue grass music and attending threshing festivals.
Dallas is survived by his wife, Carol; five children, Jeff (Darlene) of Erie, Joel (Kari) of Arnegard, ND, Karen (Mike) Fosberg of Fargo, Kari (Billy) Pfingsten of Davenport, ND and Kristi (Ron) McCloud of Halliday, ND; grandchildren, John (Krystal), Tiffany, Ean, Peter and Trever Grieger, Jacob and Sara Grieger, Livia, Brodie, Joshua and Avonlee Pfingsten and Kelsey and Ben McCloud; brother, Duane (Ethel) Grieger of Buffalo, ND and a sister, Sylvia Stewart of Surrey, ND.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Rodney; and brother-in-law, Jim Stewart.
Visitation: Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018 from 5 to 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM at West Funeral Home, Casselton, ND.
Funeral: Monday, Dec. 10 at 11 AM at St. Paul's Free Lutheran Church, Fargo with visitation one hour prior.
Burial: Casselton Cemetery.
