Billie Schatzke, 91, of Fargo, ND, passed away Monday, Dec. 9, 2019 at Essentia Health in Fargo.
Wilhelmina “Billie” Miller was born Aug. 22, 1928 at Durbin, ND to Herman and Mary (Werner) Miller. She attended country school and graduated from Lincoln High School in Casselton, ND. She received her teacher’s certificate from Valley City State. Billie married Harold Schatzke on August 29, 1947 at the Goshen Moravian Church. They made their home on the family farm near Wheatland, ND. For 27 years, Billie worked as a cook at Dakota Hospital in Fargo, a job she enjoyed and took much pride in. They later moved to Fargo.
Billie was active in the Goshen Moravian Church and was a Sunday school teacher. She was also a 4H Leader and volunteered at Bonanzaville in West Fargo. Billie and Harold enjoyed traveling especially to Florida, California and Branson, MO.
Surviving is her son, Keith of Wheatland; daughter, Carol of Fargo; 2 grandchildren, Jason (Tanya) Schatzke of Wheatland and Shelly (Brad) Sinner of Casselton; 6 great grandchildren, Leah Schatzke, Grant Schatzke, Jace Schatzke, Brady Sinner, Carly Sinner and Catie Sinner; and a brother, Verne Miller. She is also survived by two foster children that Billie and Harold raised, David Fiedler (children, Lanny and Mike (Jolie)) and Kathie (Dale) Reese (children, Bryan (Andrea) and Nikki).
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold; daughter-in-law, Joan Schatzke and siblings, Doris Stoffel, Ruth Roney, Gus Miller, Myron Miller, Herman Miller, Harold Miller, Virginia Heller, Maxine Spiedel, and Leroy Miller.
Visitation: Sunday, Dec. 15, 2019 from 4 to 5 PM with a prayer service at 5 PM at West Funeral Home, Casselton
Funeral: Monday, Dec. 16 at 10:30 AM at the Goshen Moravian Church, rural Durbin, ND with visitation one hour prior.
Burial: Goshen Moravian Cemetery.
