Betty Margaret Dickson Holes died peacefully on Wednesday August 21, 2019 after a long life of dedication to her family and her community of Hunter, ND. She was 98.
Betty was born on July 30, 1921 to William and Cecile (Forrest) Dickson in Erie, ND. She married Bernard Holes, Jr. June 14, 1944.
Predeceased by her husband, Bernard Holes Jr., and sister, Lois Post, Betty is survived by her four daughters, Barbara Holes-Dickson of Fargo, Beverly Bateman of Westminster, CO, Brenda (Kent) Vesterso of Fargo, and Bernadette Hunter of Missoula, MT. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, a niece and nephew, and a legacy of hard work.
Betty came from a proud and long line of farmers. She graduated from North Dakota Agricultural College (NDAC/NDSU) in 1944 with a four-year degree in Home Economics and devoted her life to her family, the family’s farm, and her community. She was dedicated to her profession as a homemaker. Her daughters often lovingly referred to her as Betty Crocker since Betty’s claim to fame was her wonderful and abundant cooking and baking. In addition to raising her daughters and helping maintain the family farm, Betty was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hunter, United Presbyterian Women, American Legion Auxiliary, Eastern Star, and Town & Country Homemakers. She also served as Sunday School Superintendent.
Betty was dedicated, steadfast, and loyal.
May her life be an example, and her memory a blessing.
