Bernice Schmidt, 84, of West Fargo, died Wednesday, September 20, 2017, at Eventide, in Fargo.
Bernice Bertha Schmidt was born March 16, 1933 at Fingal, ND, daughter of Henry and Bertha (Behm) Rominsky. She was raised and educated there and graduated from Fingal High School. Bernice also attended college in Valley City. She worked at Scherlling Photography in Fargo prior to her marriage to Theodore Schmidt on May 22, 1954 in Fingal. The couple lived in California for a time and worked at Rohr Aircraft. Bernice and Ted returned to North Dakota , living in Valley City, where she began a career as a cook at the Rudolph Hotel. They moved to West Fargo where she was a cook for 20 years at the West Fargo VFW. Bernice later was employed by the Fargo Park Board, cooking at the depot on Main Ave and later on 1st Avenue until her health failed a several months ago.
Bernice was a member of the West Fargo VFW Auxiliary and enjoyed gardening, flowers, her dogs and cat.
Grateful for having shared in her life are her husband: Ted of West Fargo; children: Curtis (Shanda) Schmidt of Moorhead, MN and daughter: Denise (Stephen) Sharp of Springfield, Ohio; grandchildren: Tyler Schmidt, Kallie Schmidt, Katherine Sharp and Wesley Sharp; nieces and nephews: Becky (Ron) Prasek, Ollie (Jerry) Johnson, Kollen (Charles) Sunde, Janelle Johnson, Todd Rominsky, Jeffery Rominsky, Donald (Patricia) Rominsky, Linda (Gunnar) Bye, Jodi (Andy) Wahlund; , Bill (Cate) Coghlan; Lynda (Tom) Day; Carol (Don) Kropp; Kathy (Rich) Eggert; Chuck (Jerrilyn) Coghlan; Toots Coghlan; Maureen Woodbury;Tim (Carol) Cruff; Mike (Joanie ) Cruff; Sheryal (Arlo) Mittleider; Dalene (Jack) Van Eaton; Rita (Gary) Molldrem; Marle (Lisa) Poehls; Tammy Schultz; Stacy (Rodney) Welles; Mike (Michelle) Schmidt; Jody (Vicki) Schmidt. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother: Luverne Rominsky.
Visitation 5 to 7p.m. Sunday, September 24, 2017, followed by a 7 p.m. Prayer Service at the West Funeral Home in West Fargo.
Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 25, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in West Fargo.
