Barbara Sprunk, 81, rural Enderlin, ND died on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2019 at Maryhill Manor, Enderlin.
Barbara Ann Ausk was born Dec. 17, 1937 in Fargo, ND to Edwin and Marie (Webb) Ausk. She grew up on the family farm near Chaffee, ND where she was active at a young age helping with the farm and livestock. Barb attended high school in Chaffee and graduated from Enderlin High School in 1955. She then attended business college in Fargo and worked at Pioneer Mutual Life Ins. Barb married Verrill Sprunk on April 7, 1957 in Sheldon, ND. They made their home in the Chaffee area and later moved to Alice, ND. She worked as a waitress at the Tower City Truck Stop. They settled near Enderlin where she worked at the ND Grain Inspection Service and farmed and ranched side by side with Verrill.
Barb served as leader of the Enderlin 7-16ers 4H Club and was active in her church women’s groups. Through her involvement with agriculture, she was honored by receiving the Red River Farm Woman of the Year Award in 2002 and the Enderlin FFA Honorary Chapter Farmer Degree.
She is survived by her husband, Verrill; four children, Jeff (Dawn) of Keystone, SD, Dale (Dana) of Chaffee, Dean of Enderlin, Cindy (Terry) Hanson of Enderlin; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings, Verne Ausk, Harvey Ausk and Helen Hansen.
Visitation: Sunday, Nov. 3, 2019 from 4 to 6 PM with a prayer service at 6 PM at West Funeral Home, Casselton, ND.
Funeral: Monday, Nov. 4 at 11 AM at St. Peter Lutheran Church, rural Leonard, ND with visitation one hour prior.
Burial: Salem Cemetery, rural Enderlin.
