Arthur Baldwin Odegaard was born on January 25, 1930 in Kindred, ND and was raised on a farm near Horace, ND. He attended a one room school house near Horace and graduated from high school in West Fargo in 1947. Following high school, he attended NDSCS in Wahpeton. He served as a boom operator in the US Air Force from 1948 until 1969, completing 47 combat missions. After his discharge from the military, he lived in West Fargo, Horace and Wahpeton before moving back to West Fargo and most recently Fargo. He owned and operated Wimpy’s Champlin service station in West Fargo. Art also volunteered at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Fargo for many years.
He enjoyed reading, golfing, walking, playing cards and was a life member of the West Fargo VFW, American Legion and DAV.
Art is survived by three children, Linda (Dan) Gates, Fremont, NE, Robert (Kathy) Odegaard, White Bear Township, MN and Scott (Vicki) Odegaard, Vadnais Heights, MN; grandchildren, Justin & Missy Gates, Laura Odegaard, Kristen Allen, Danielle Pfeifer, Nick Dabruzzi and Tammy Mork; several great grandchildren; many nieces & nephews; and special friend, Betty Parr.
He was preceded in Death by his parents and siblings, Adele, Robert, Wallace, Donald, Ilene and Marian.
Funeral: Friday, Jan. 5, 2018 at 11 AM at West Funeral Home Chapel, West Fargo with visitation one hour prior and reception to follow.
Burial: St. John Cemetery, Horace.
